Is being married to you the same as driving an Audi?

Like everyone else I love watching the Super Bowl commercials. Even the bad ones.

One commercial this year really got my attention. It was the Audi “Prom” commercial where the kid is going to prom alone, his dad tosses him the keys to the Audi, he gets all kinds of brave, walks onto the dance floor, kisses the prom queen, gets punched by the prom king, and goes home a happy man.

I honestly didn’t think much during the commercial except, “Who actually has their prom in a gym? Do people really still do that?”

I looked over to ask Mark if his prom was held in a gym and saw he had a huge smile plastered on his face. This commercial had touched something in the dude psyche.

I don’t know about your husband, but mine wants the insane confidence that the kid in the commercial had. Your husband wants to believe in himself, he wants to take risks and show the world what he’s made of.

We obviously aren’t going to buy an Audi any time soon, but I stopped to think about whether being married to me helped my husband’s confidence. Did he feel valued and loved? Did he feel like he could take on the world? Did he know that I had his back and would love him no matter the consequences? Did my appearance and behavior make him proud that he chose me? Did he feel sexy and desired? Could he be brave enough to walk into a prom and kiss the prom queen?

Heh. Just kidding about that last one.

Thought for today: What can you do today to build confidence and bravery in your husband?

My husband drives an Audi. It makes him feel good! I hope he especially likes driving it when I am in the passenger seat.
